Building Automation Controls Specialist
We are seeking an experienced Building Automation Controls Specialist to support installation, programming, commissioning, and maintenance of modern HVAC automation and control networks in the Mobile, Alabama area. This role is ideal for a technically skilled BAS professional who enjoys working in the field, solving system performance issues, and working with advanced control technologies across commercial and institutional environments in Mobile, AL.
The position focuses on hands-on BAS system deployment, troubleshooting, and integration work throughout projects located in Mobile, Alabama. You will operate as a key technical resource while supporting engineering teams, electricians, and project managers to ensure reliable automation performance in Mobile facilities. Candidates should have at least three years of practical experience working with building automation or HVAC control technologies and be comfortable working independently at job sites around Mobile, AL.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and commission building automation controllers, HVAC control equipment, and network-connected BAS devices in Mobile, Alabama
- Develop, modify, and maintain programming logic using platforms such as Tridium Niagara N4, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric systems
- Support system communication and integration using BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, and related industrial protocols
- Perform system diagnostics, field testing, and corrective maintenance for automation equipment serving Mobile, AL facilities
- Assist with retrofit upgrades, control system modernization, and BAS expansion projects across Mobile, Alabama sites
- Review wiring layouts, submittals, and technical schematics to ensure installation accuracy
- Generate commissioning documentation, service logs, and as-built records for projects in Mobile
- Provide technical guidance, site demonstrations, and operational support for end users in Mobile, AL
- Coordinate with construction and engineering teams to support successful project completion
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience in BAS controls, HVAC automation, or related field service work
- Demonstrated knowledge of Tridium Niagara N4, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric control platforms
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings, control diagrams, and technical installation documentation
- Experience with low-voltage control wiring, network communication setups, and device termination
- Strong diagnostic thinking and mechanical/electrical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project locations within and around Mobile, Alabama
- Professional communication skills and ability to work directly with clients on Mobile, AL projects
Preferred Technical Background
- Niagara N4 certification or manufacturer training credentials
- Exposure to building energy management dashboards or monitoring tools
- Basic understanding of IP networking, switches, and control system connectivity
- Prior experience supporting BAS retrofit or system integration initiatives
