Our core services include on-site inspection of roadway, bridge, and utility construction to ensure adherence to engineering specifications, safety standards, and contract requirements. We support clients with daily reporting, materials testing coordination, schedule tracking, and quality assurance oversight. Additional services include project management, grants management for federally funded infrastructure and disaster recovery programs.
About the Role:
The Industrial Hygienist will support the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) READI contract by managing safety, health, and exposure assessments during emergency response, disaster recovery, infrastructure restoration, and temporary facility operations. This role provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating, and controlling occupational and environmental health hazards that may impact personnel, contractors, responders, and the public during disaster operations.
The Industrial Hygienist will conduct workplace and site exposure assessments, evaluate chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards, and develop recommendations to protect worker health and ensure compliance with applicable federal safety and health regulations. The position requires close coordination with safety professionals, engineers, environmental specialists, emergency management personnel, contractors, and government stakeholders to support safe and effective recovery operations.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Occupational Safety, Public Health, Environmental Science, or a related scientific discipline from an accredited institution.
- Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) or equivalent professional credential.
- Professional experience conducting industrial hygiene assessments, occupational exposure monitoring, and workplace health evaluations.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA requirements, NIOSH guidance, and other applicable federal and state occupational health and safety standards.
- Experience utilizing industrial hygiene monitoring equipment and exposure assessment methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards in field and operational environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and federal stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health, Environmental Health, or related discipline.
- Experience supporting USACE, FEMA, DoD, OSHA, EPA, or other federal emergency response and recovery programs.
- Experience conducting health and exposure assessments in disaster response, construction, infrastructure recovery, or hazardous environments.
- Familiarity with quantitative exposure modeling, risk assessment methodologies, and occupational health surveillance programs.
- Additional certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST), or related credentials.
- Experience supporting temporary facilities, debris management operations, hazardous material incidents, or post-disaster recovery activities.
Responsibilities:
- Manage safety, health, and exposure assessments supporting emergency response, disaster recovery, and infrastructure restoration operations.
- Conduct industrial hygiene evaluations to identify and assess chemical, biological, physical, radiological, noise, heat stress, and ergonomic hazards.
- Develop and implement exposure monitoring programs using approved industrial hygiene equipment and assessment methodologies.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret environmental and occupational exposure data to determine health risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Evaluate worksite conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
- Support health and safety planning activities for emergency operations, temporary facilities, debris removal activities, and recovery projects.
- Prepare technical reports, exposure assessment documentation, risk evaluations, and regulatory compliance records in accordance with USACE requirements.
- Provide occupational health and hazard awareness training to project personnel, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Coordinate with safety officers, environmental professionals, engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address occupational health concerns and ensure compliance.
- Participate in field inspections, emergency response support activities, and post-disaster site evaluations as required.

The ideal candidate must possess strong expertise in industrial hygiene, occupational health, exposure assessment, and hazard recognition to support safe and compliant disaster response and recovery operations. A thorough understanding of OSHA, EPA, NIOSH, and related regulatory requirements is essential for evaluating workplace hazards and ensuring compliance with applicable standards. Experience conducting exposure monitoring, environmental sampling, risk assessments, and health hazard evaluations is required to identify and mitigate risks associated with chemical, biological, physical, and ergonomic hazards. The candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret monitoring data, assess occupational risks, and develop practical control strategies under dynamic field conditions. Proficiency with industrial hygiene instrumentation, exposure assessment methodologies, and technical reporting is critical for supporting accurate evaluations and regulatory documentation. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for preparing technical reports, delivering safety training, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, regulatory agencies, and federal stakeholders. The ability to adapt to emergency response environments and support field operations in challenging conditions is essential for successful performance under the USACE READI contract.
