Welder/Fitter
Job Description
This role combines welding and fitting responsibilities in a fabrication shop environment. You will read and interpret blueprints, fit components accurately, and use hand and power tools to assemble and prepare metal structures. Previous welding experience is helpful but not required, making this a strong opportunity for a fitter with solid industrial experience who wants to further develop welding skills.
Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints to determine dimensions, tolerances, and assembly requirements.
- Fit and align metal components accurately according to specifications and drawings.
- Use hand and power tools to cut, grind, drill, and prepare materials for welding and assembly.
- Perform MIG welding on metal components as needed to complete assemblies and fabrications.
- Inspect completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and blueprint specifications.
- Work safely and efficiently in an industrial fabrication shop, following all safety procedures and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects on time and maintain a clean, organized work area.
- 1–3 years of fitting experience in a fabrication or industrial setting.
- 1–3 years of experience reading and working from blueprints.
- Proficiency with MIG welding or a strong willingness to learn MIG welding techniques.
- 1–3 years of experience using hand tools such as grinders, wrenches, and measuring tools.
- 1–3 years of experience using power tools commonly found in an industrial or fabrication environment.
- Ability to work safely and follow established procedures in an industrial setting.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, high-quality work.
- Prior experience in a fabrication shop or similar industrial environment.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings and translate them into precise assemblies.
- Comfort working with metal materials and handling fabrication equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing project requirements.
You will join a hands-on fabrication environment where you can build practical skills and see the tangible results of your work. The role offers the opportunity to deepen your welding experience while applying and expanding your fitting and blueprint-reading abilities. You will work alongside experienced trades professionals in a setting that values craftsmanship, safety, and steady, reliable work.
Work Environment
This position is based in a non–climate controlled fabrication shop, where temperatures may vary with the seasons. You will work around industrial equipment, hand and power tools, and metal fabrication machinery. The environment is active and production-focused, requiring appropriate work attire suitable for an industrial shop and adherence to all safety practices and protective equipment requirements.
