We are looking for a meticulous and driven Cost Accountant to join our growing team in Calera, Alabama. Responsibilities:
• Collaborate with production teams to analyze and monitor job costs, including material and labor usage, to identify variances and improve efficiency.
• Support month-end close processes by preparing reconciliations and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
• Allocate material and labor costs to specific jobs, maintaining precise records for project cost tracking.
• Assist in the analysis of manufacturing processes to optimize resource utilization and profitability.
• Review and reconcile transactional entries in the accounting system for accuracy and completeness.
• Work closely with operations and materials teams to provide insights on cost savings opportunities.
• Analyze unit manufacturing costs for various product types, ensuring alignment with company standards.
• Contribute to the preparation of financial reports and presentations for management.
• Act as a key resource for cost accounting and financial planning within the organization.
• Participate in production meetings to gain a deep understanding of operational workflows and challenges.• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and practices, particularly in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with accounting software, with experience in Sage being a plus.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate cost data and identify trends.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including production and materials groups.
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy in financial reporting and analysis.
• Open to recent graduates or candidates with limited experience but a strong willingness to learn.
• Effective communication skills to convey financial insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
