About the Role
AmeriCloud is seeking a skilled Field Engineer with expertise in BBU swap projects to join our GAAL region team. In this role, you'll play a key part in modernizing cellular networks by executing seamless migration from Nokia to Ericsson platforms. The position requires a hands-on professional with strong RAN experience, technical problem-solving abilities, and the flexibility to work in a dynamic field environment.

Responsibilities

Pre-Swap Activities:

• Conduct site walks and audits to capture existing Nokia BBU setups.

• Validate Ericsson hardware/software compatibility.

• Draft migration strategies, risk analyses, and rollback methods.

Swap Execution:

• Replace Nokia BBUs with Ericsson Baseband units at designated sites.

• Configure Ericsson equipment to align with network parameters.

• Coordinate with NOC, transmission teams, and other stakeholders during cutovers.

Integration & Validation:

• Integrate new Ericsson BBUs with RAN infrastructure.

• Clear alarms, confirm parameters, and perform necessary upgrades.

• Conduct post-swap testing including drive tests to ensure performance KPIs are met.

Reporting & Documentation:

• Maintain detailed logs of field activities and resolutions.

• Update as-built documentation and network diagrams.

• Submit timely reports to project managers and stakeholders.

Troubleshooting & Support:

• Identify and resolve post-migration alarms, connectivity, and performance issues.

• Collaborate with vendor technical support when escalations are needed.

• Provide on-call or after-hours support during high-priority cutovers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.

• Minimum 3 years of field experience in RAN maintenance, upgrades, or swap projects.

• Proficiency with Nokia BBUs (AirScale, Flexi) and Ericsson BBUs (Baseband 6600/6650).

• Strong working knowledge of RAN interfaces (CPRI/eCPRI), IP networking, and OSS tools (Ericsson ENM, Nokia NetAct).

• Industry certifications such as Ericsson/Nokia product certs or CCNA are preferred.

• Must be open to frequent travel within GA/AL region and flexible to work nights or weekends.
