Vice President of AI Enablement

Diversified Gas & Oil Corporation (DGOC) is an established owner and operator of producing conventional and unconventional natural gas & oil wells and midstream pipelines and compression stations concentrated in the Appalachian Basin in the United States. Headquartered in Birmingham, AL, our field operations are located throughout the Appalachian Basin in the states of Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. In 2021, Diversified announced our expansion into our Central Regional Focus Area, which includes producing areas within Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

POSITION SUMMARY & RESPONSIBILITIES:

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced AI leader to serve as the enterprise AI Liaison, responsible for bridging the gap between business units, technology teams, and data/AI specialists to accelerate value creation through artificial intelligence.


This role will play a critical cross-functional leadership function—guiding AI project selection, validating business cases, and embedding AI subject-matter expertise into high-priority initiatives. The successful candidate will align AI opportunities with business outcomes, foster AI fluency across stakeholders, and help shape a portfolio of scalable, ROI-driven AI use cases.

Special focus will be placed on:

• Business Alignment & Liaison
  • Serve as the primary AI strategy liaison across departments (e.g., Marketing, Land, Production, Finance, Legal, Field Operations). Lead and coordinate the Ai SWAT team created by business function.
    
  • Facilitate the intake, evaluation, and prioritization of AI projects based on business value, complexity, and feasibility.
  • Translate complex AI capabilities into clear business impacts for non-technical stakeholders.
• AI Portfolio & Project Governance
  • Lead the AI project selection process by reviewing business cases, ROI assumptions, and alignment to strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define success metrics, QA frameworks, and delivery expectations.
  • Support programmatic AI implementation across foundational and departmental automation use cases.
  • Work with the Director of IT Governance Risk and Control to develop AI governance and usage policies.
• Subject-Matter Expertise & Enablement
  • Act as an internal AI SME and thought leader to guide responsible and effective use of AI technologies.
    Help build AI fluency and understanding within executive teams, SMEs, and frontline business units.
  • Support design and validation of AI agents, language models, or predictive tools with business domain relevance.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Data, IT, and Cloud teams on model architecture, data sourcing, and deployment needs.
  • Work with internal change management, training, and analytics leaders to ensure adoption and sustainability.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline processes through AI augmentation and intelligent automation.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (MBA or MS in Analytics/AI preferred).
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technology, strategy, or business transformation roles, with at least 3+ years focused on AI, analytics, or automation.
• Proven experience leading cross-functional initiatives that involve technology and business outcomes. 
• Strong understanding of AI/ML concepts, agent orchestration, generative AI, and NLP technologies.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and align diverse stakeholders.
• Familiarity with enterprise AI tools/platforms (e.g., Azure AI, Snowflake, Power BI, Databricks, OpenAI APIs).
• Structured thinker with strong analytical, facilitation, and storytelling skills. 
• Strategic, business-driven mindset with a passion for innovation and simplification.
• Skilled at navigating ambiguity and balancing competing priorities across fast-paced environments.
• Track record of fostering collaboration across business, IT, and operations teams. 
• Azure AI, Snowflake, Databricks, ServiceNow, Power Platform, OpenAI, Python, and other LLM agents
• Familiarity with cloud data architectures, data governance, and agent-based automation frameworks. 
• Reports to: SVP of Security and Business Process Automation 

Location: (Birmingham Headquarters) 
Travel: Minimal (<20%), based on project needs
