Job Description: Farm/Agricultural Mechanic

Woerner Agribusiness ("Woerner Turf") operates a large sod farm located in Baldwin County, Alabama. We are seeking a dedicated, hardworking individual to fulfill the role as a Farm Mechanic.

Duties:

• Perform Diagnostics, Maintenance and Repairs on company equipment (tractors, forklifts, vehicles, etc.). This work may be performed in the field.
• Implement and adhere to a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment.
• Follow a pre-season inspection schedule and complete annual maintenance. Inspect equipment for mechanical, structural, and normal wear items.
• Fabricate repair parts/patches as needed.
• Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation.
• Remove defective parts by dismantling devices.
• Ensure parts inventory is maintained and recorded.
• Maintain all necessary report logs required in conjunction with work assignments.
• Maintain a clean work area and perform work in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Follows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments
• Follow all safety guidelines.

Skills:

• Experience of maintenance and repairs of farm equipment (including but not limited to: Sod harvesters, forklifts, sprayers, planters, tractors, irrigation equipment, etc.)
• Diagnosing problems quickly and efficiently
• Working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the profession
• Experience with welding and hydraulics are a plus
• Efficient time management skills

Experience:

• Maintenance of Ag. Equipment: 2 years
• Mechanic: 2 years
• Farm Operations: 2 years

Requirements:

• Trade school certification is preferred in mechanics.
• Some experience in farm operations
• 2+ years’ Experience with agriculture equipment, trucks and trailers is desired.

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Foley, AL 36535: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

• Mechanical knowledge: 2 years (Preferred)
