Salary Range: $16.81 - $23.26 per hour

The City of Alabaster is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Park Maintenance Technician to join our Parks & Recreation team. This position performs a variety of tasks related to the maintenance, repair, groundskeeping, and improvement of City facilities, parks, athletic complexes, and open spaces. The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining safe, clean, and attractive public spaces for residents and visitors to enjoy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, and landscaping.
• Maintain parks, athletic fields, playgrounds, walking trails, and other recreational facilities.
• Assist with repairs and upkeep of park equipment, buildings, fences, and amenities.
• Operate and maintain hand tools, power tools, mowers, tractors, and other maintenance equipment.
• Assist with special event setup and teardown.
• Remove litter and debris to ensure facilities remain clean and safe.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections of facilities and equipment.
• Respond to maintenance requests and address safety concerns in public areas.
• Assist with irrigation system maintenance and other facility improvement projects.
• Follow established safety procedures and departmental policies.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, construction, facility maintenance, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to safely operate maintenance equipment and tools.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Physical Requirements

Vision: Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Physical Demands: Frequent standing, sitting, walking, use of hands to operate tools and controls, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, balancing, crawling, talking, and hearing.

Lifting Requirements: Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.

Environmental Conditions: Exposure to dogs and other animals, extreme heat and cold, moving mechanical parts, fumes, odors, chemicals, and loud noises.
