Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Alabama Professional Certificate
- Compliance with Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state standards
- Demonstrated experience in special education instruction highly preferred
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues, families, and administrators
- Adaptability for working across a range of student needs and environments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and small-group instruction aligned with IEPs in self-contained and resource classroom settings
- Develop and implement lesson plans that foster growth and accommodate diverse learning styles
- Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate records and documentation
- Participate in IEP meetings, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to set and achieve student goals
- Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive classroom atmosphere
- Maintain communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and needs
- Stay current with best practices in special education
