Position Overview
We are hiring a Project Coordinator to support active construction projects in Montgomery, AL. This role functions as a Field Engineer — sitting at the intersection of field operations and project administration. The Project Coordinator will support Construction Managers and Superintendents with field coordination, construction documentation, submittal tracking, and project scheduling. This is an excellent opportunity for early-career construction professionals who want real, hands-on exposure to complex project execution from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day field coordination across active construction projects, working closely with the Construction Manager and Superintendent
- Manage the submittal log, track shop drawings, and expedite material deliveries to keep the project schedule on track
- Assist in developing and updating the project schedule, breaking work into manageable phases with clear completion timelines
- Maintain all construction documentation including daily reports, RFIs, meeting minutes, contracts, and correspondence
- Serve as a field coordination point of contact for subcontractors, vendors, and internal project staff
- Assist with monthly owner pay applications, change order processing, and budget support for the Construction Manager
- Help monitor project costs, track labor recaps, and support monthly margin analysis
- Conduct quality assurance checks in the field to verify work meets project specifications and construction standards
- Enforce project safety policies on the jobsite and actively participate in all safety-related functions and reporting
- Support or run weekly subcontractor and staff coordination meetings as directed by the Construction Manager
- Read blueprints, verify field measurements, and flag discrepancies between drawings and field conditions
Required Qualifications
- 0-5 years of experience in a construction coordination, field engineering, or project support role; recent graduates welcome
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or Business preferred
- Proficiency in MS Office 365 (Excel, Word, Project, SharePoint) and Adobe Suite
- Familiarity with construction methods, building systems, and project scheduling concepts
- Ability to read blueprints and construction drawings and apply them in the field
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage construction documentation across multiple work fronts
- Clear written and verbal communication skills for coordinating with field crews, subcontractors, and project leadership
- Comfortable working in a mobile, field-based construction environment
- Valid driver's license required
Benefits & Compensation
- Salary range: $75,000 - $90,000 depending on experience
- Company-paid medical insurance
- Life insurance and accidental death & dismemberment coverage
- Long-term disability coverage
- 401(k) retirement plan
- Paid time off beginning upon hire
- Employee assistance program (EAP)
Why This Opportunity
- Get hands-on field coordination experience on large, complex construction projects from day one
- Work directly with experienced Construction Managers who invest in developing early-career talent
- Exposure to all aspects of project scheduling, construction documentation, submittals, and cost management
- Clear growth path toward Project Manager and senior construction management roles
- Strong company culture built on safety, accountability, and delivering high-quality work
