Desired Experience & Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university
- Valid Alabama Professional Certificate
- Meet all Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) federal and state qualification requirements
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in self-contained or resource settings preferred
- Demonstrated skill in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to individual student needs
- Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and support to students with IEPs, ensuring access to the general curriculum
- Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to diverse learners, using evidence-based strategies
- Assess and monitor student progress, maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and related service providers for inclusive education delivery
- Foster a positive, encouraging, and safe classroom environment
- Communicate effectively with students, families, and school staff to address academic and behavioral goals
