Position Description – Chain Account Manager

Reports to: Managing Director

Position Objective:

The Chain Manager is responsible for improving sales by attaining ads, distribution, displays, and shelf space from the assigned chains. The Chain Manager is responsible for leading, directing, and controlling the sales and merchandising activities of the sales organization within the assigned chain accounts.

The Chain Manager is also responsible for providing critical analytical support for our chain account customers and our sales organization. A key component of Gulf Distributing Holdings Company, success with chain customer is the ability to develop insights and deliver against selling opportunities. Identifying these sales opportunities requires rigorous analysis and keen insights that this position provides.

The Chain Manager is the primary representative to the customer for all category management processes and expertise. This position manages the category management retailer relationship and provides “best in class” category management services and insights (shopper and business) to achieve category goals of the retailer and Gulf Distributing Holdings Company.

Description of Physical Tasks:

Keep shelves and vendors clean. Place product on hand truck or dolly (approximately 20 to 50 lbs per case). Pushes/pulls hand truck to machine or shelves and loads appropriate company products. Climbing in and out of vehicle and proper lifting techniques.

Responsibilities Include:

  1. Continually direct and monitor the Salespersons in the areas of marketing plan goals, sales, new placements, distribution, rotation, code dates, pricing, POS, displays, and cooler position.
  2. Maintain contact with all Sales Managers to obtain the necessary information for proper sales, merchandising and implementation of all retail programs across all channels.
  3. Be point of contact for chain account business analysis.
  4. Volume forecasting and plan volume bridges for chain programs.
  5. Identify volume, share and profit opportunities.
  6. Collaborate with field sales to understand retail execution.
  7. Communicate pricing discrepancies by chain to the account managers.
  8. Present results/proposals to chain team management.
  9. Gap analysis vs. plan, category.
  10. Work with analyst to deliver category/space management presentations to the retailer to secure partnership.
  11. Develop customer category plans collaboratively with the retailer.
  12. Apply category management standards.
  13. Apply and customize category retail solutions to account situations.
  14. Develop solution selling presentations for customers.
  15. Implement agreed solutions: track, measure and communicate results.
  16. Call on new accounts prior to opening and non-buying accounts monthly.
  17. Maintain a positive working relationship with the owners, managers and employees of all assigned accounts.
  18. Be aware of all competitive activity within your assigned chains, including opportunities that can increase the sales of the company.
  19. Advise and train retailers and their employees in the proper methods of selling, merchandising, and pricing of the products you supply to them.
  20. Maintain open and clear communications with the owners, managers, and other employees of the company.
  21. Always be aware of code dates and have product that is out-of-date swapped out.
  22. Be aware of product salability and have damaged product swapped out.
  23. Properly operate, protect from damage, and return all equipment that has been issued to you (i.e. radios, hand trucks, vehicles, etc.).
  24. Conduct all your activities within the guidelines of all company policies and procedures.
  25. Conduct all of your activities in accordance to the local, state and federal liquor control regulations.
  26. Perform all work activities in accordance to the safe work practices, policies and procedures.
  27. All other duties as assigned.
