Jr Systems Software Safety Engineer

i3 is searching for a Jr. Systems/Software Safety Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities
The candidate will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of safety programs by working closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams to identify assess and mitigate hazards throughout the system lifecycle. This role requires direct application of MIL-STD-882E principles to assist in conducting and documenting a variety of hazard analyses to include developing and tracking mitigation measures according to the system safety design order of precedence. Development of safety documentation including Safety Assessment Reports risk assessments and safety incident root cause analysis required to functionally support the safety of product portfolio.
Qualifications
- A bachelors degree (or Masters) in Engineering (systems or safety) discipline and 0-3 years of relevant experience is required.
- Candidates should have basic knowledge of safety principles regulations and practices including experience carrying out hazard mitigation techniques as well as conducting risk analysis on weapons systems.
- Candidate must be a US citizen and must be a resident near Huntsville AL or be willing to relocate.
- While primary responsibilities are at Redstone Arsenal candidates will be required to travel as needed to test sites and equipment locations (up to 25%).
- Experience with application of system safety policies within programs using agile software development Model Based System Engineering and/or Air and Missile Defense systems is a plus.
- Candidate should excel in communications techniques to effectively lead safety efforts.
- Candidate must be experienced with Microsoft Office products.
- Experience with JIRA/Confluence or MBSE tools (Cameo/MagicDraw) a plus.
- Candidate must be able to think independently and be self-motivated with proven organizational skills ability to multi-task and support varied assignments.
Clearance Requirement:
- Candidate must have a Secret security clearance.

- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision peripheral vision depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday however additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
