Job Description

The Material Handler is responsible for operating forklifts, stackers, and overhead cranes to transport materials, load machines, and support daily production operations. This position also assists with cycle counts, inventory control, backfilling machine operators, and performing assembly and painting tasks as needed. The ideal candidate will have strong equipment operation skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Pay: Starts at $17.62 per hour

Shift: 6:00am-2:30pm Monday-Friday

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

• Safely operate forklifts, stackers, and overhead cranes to move and position materials.

• Load and unload machines, trucks, and storage locations.

• Perform cycle counts and assist with inventory accuracy.

• Backfill for machine operators as needed.

• Assist with assembly and painting operations when required.

• Conduct visual and quality inspections of materials and finished parts.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.

• Follow all safety policies and procedures.

• Support inventory control and material requisitions.

• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

• Proven ability to safely operate material handling equipment.

• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Must pass background check and drug/alcohol screening as a condition of employment and continued employment.

Work Environment:

• Manufacturing / warehouse setting.

• Exposure to moving mechanical parts, loud noise, dust, and varying temperatures.

• May work in high or confined spaces.

• Noise level ranges from moderate to high.

Physical Demands:

• Stand and walk for extended periods.

• Lift and/or move up to 50 lbs occasionally.

• Reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and work near moving machinery.

• Occasionally work at heights.

Education & Experience:

• High school diploma or GED required.

• 2+ years of daily forklift operation experience required.

• Manufacturing or warehouse experience preferred.

• Experience with inventory control and cycle counting is a plus.

Training, Certifications & Licenses:

• Valid state driver’s license required.

• Forklift and overhead crane certification preferred (or must be obtained upon hire).

Protective Equipment Required:

• Steel-toe boots

• Safety glasses

• Additional PPE as required by area and task.
