Located at 6532 Walnut Grove Road, Altoona, AL , Altoona Health & Rehab is dedicated to providing high-quality care and support to our residents. We are currently seeking a reliable and compassionate Transportation Specialist to join our team and help ensure our residents arrive safely and promptly to their appointments.
As a Transportation Specialist, you will play a key role in supporting our residents' health and well-being. Your primary responsibility will be to drive the company van and assist residents with transportation needs, ensuring safe, timely travel to medical appointments and other essential outings.
Key Responsibilities:
Safely Transport Residents: Drive the company van to transport residents to and from medical appointments and scheduled activities, ensuring comfort and safety at all times.
Assist Residents: Provide physical assistance getting in and out of the vehicle, securing residents appropriately, and ensuring their safety throughout transport.
Maintain Clean Driving Record: Follow all traffic laws and demonstrate safe driving practices.
Vehicle Maintenance: Perform basic checks and notify maintenance of any issues to ensure the vehicle remains in proper working order.
Coordinate Schedules: Collaborate with nursing and administrative staff to organize transportation schedules and minimize wait times.
Emergency Preparedness: Follow all protocols in the event of an emergency while in transit.
Qualifications:
Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
Strong understanding of road safety and traffic regulations
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to physically assist residents with mobility needs
Calm, patient, and compassionate demeanor
Flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed
Prior experience in healthcare or senior living is a plus
