About the Role:
The Resident Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate and personalized care to residents within healthcare and social assistance settings. This position focuses on supporting the daily living activities of residents, ensuring their comfort, safety, and well-being. The role requires close collaboration with healthcare professionals to monitor residents' health status and report any changes promptly. By fostering a respectful and empathetic environment, the Resident Care Assistant helps enhance the quality of life for individuals under their care. Ultimately, this position contributes significantly to the holistic care approach, promoting dignity and independence for each resident.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of resident care principles and safety protocols.
- Ability to pass background checks and health screenings.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a long-term care or assisted living facility.
- CPR and First Aid certification.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication skills tailored to diverse resident populations.
- Additional training in dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Monitor and document residents’ physical and emotional conditions, reporting any concerns to nursing staff promptly.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to residents, encouraging social interaction and engagement.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment for residents by following established protocols.
- Support meal preparation and feeding assistance as needed, ensuring dietary requirements are met.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to implement individualized care plans effectively.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including infection control procedures.

The Resident Care Assistant utilizes strong interpersonal and communication skills daily to build trusting relationships with residents and their families. Attention to detail and observational skills are critical for monitoring residents’ health and reporting changes accurately to healthcare teams. Physical stamina and dexterity are essential for assisting with mobility and personal care tasks safely. Time management and organizational skills help in efficiently balancing multiple resident needs and documentation requirements. Preferred skills such as familiarity with EHR systems and specialized dementia care training enhance the ability to provide tailored, high-quality support in complex care environments.
