Position Summary:

ADC is seeking a dynamic Transportation Manager to lead our transportation operations. This role is responsible for overseeing routing, delivery performance, regulatory compliance, and driver management. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and analytical skills with a proven ability to drive efficiency in a fast-paced distribution environment.

Core Responsibilities:

• Ensure all transportation activities are performed safely and efficiently, in compliance with SOPs and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee daily transportation operations including routing, scheduling, and delivery. This includes routing new customers, regularly reviewing and analyzing existing routes to ensure efficiency and adjusting for improvement as needed.
• Monitor driver performance, enforce company policies, and coach for continuous improvement.
• Ensure DOT, FMCSA, OSHA, and ELD compliance.
• Manage department labor hours, fuel consumption, repairs & maintenance costs, and routing efficiency to optimize profitability.
• Schedule and coordinate vehicle maintenance and repairs according to maintenance schedule maintained by the Transportation Manager. Performing documentation related to purchase orders and billing pertaining to the department.
• Analyze warehouse loading and picking procedures in collaboration with Warehouse Manager to improve delivery efficiency.
• Monitor KPIs and identify process improvements to reduce costs and increase delivery performance.
• Support and develop department personnel, conducting performance reviews and disciplinary actions when necessary.
• Maintain high levels of communication with Sales, Warehouse, and Customer Service teams to resolve service issues and improve customer satisfaction.
• Visit customer locations to assess delivery challenges and build relationships.
• Lead department training for new-hires and ongoing training for existing team members. This includes ride-a-longs and route shadowing to ensure optimal driver performance.
• Lead team huddles as needed and quarterly driver safety meetings.
• Provide 24/7 operational support when needed, including after-hours response.
• Cover delivery routes when necessary.
• Maintain department attendance records, safety documentation, and operational reports.
• Stay current on industry regulations and logistics best practices.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure seamless end-to-end delivery execution.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of management experience in a high-volume distribution or logistics environment.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and FMCSA compliance.
• Experience with route planning, ELD systems, and fleet telematics (e.g., Samsara).
• Proven ability to coach and develop drivers and staff.
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills under pressure.
• Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and communication abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word).
• Able to lift/move up to 50 lbs.; valid driver’s license with clean MVR.
• Familiarity with geographical territories of our service area.
