As part of our commitment to excellence, we are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to help establish, implement, and maintain best-in-class welding procedures and quality standards throughout our operation.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to lead welding quality initiatives and help revamp our welding program. This role will be responsible for developing and enforcing welding standards, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and specifications, inspecting weld quality, and working closely with production teams to improve welding processes and overall fabrication quality.

The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge of welding procedures, structural steel fabrication, quality assurance practices, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

Welding Inspection & Quality Assurance

• Perform visual inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies to ensure compliance with project specifications and applicable welding codes.
• Verify welding procedures, qualifications, and documentation are maintained and followed.
• Identify welding defects, non-conformances, and quality concerns, and recommend corrective actions.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections throughout the fabrication process.
• Maintain accurate inspection records, reports, and quality documentation.

Welding Program Development

• Assist in establishing and implementing company-wide welding standards and best practices.
• Develop and improve welding procedures to increase quality, consistency, and efficiency.
• Collaborate with management to enhance welding operations and quality control programs.
• Ensure compliance with AWS, AISC, and customer-specific welding requirements.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to welding and fabrication processes.

Training & Technical Support

• Provide guidance and technical support to welders, supervisors, and production personnel.
• Assist with welder qualification testing and certifications.
• Promote a culture of safety, quality, and accountability throughout the facility.
• Serve as a subject matter expert on welding codes, procedures, and industry standards.

Qualifications

Required

• Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Minimum 5 years of welding inspection and/or structural steel fabrication experience.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1 and structural steel welding standards.
• Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings, blueprints, and welding symbols.
• Experience with welding procedure specifications (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualifications.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

• Experience in structural steel fabrication and manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with AISC quality standards.
• Experience implementing or improving welding quality programs.
• Additional NDT certifications or quality-related credentials are a plus.

Work Schedule

• Monday – Friday
• 6:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Occasional overtime as needed to support production schedules and project deadlines.
