Regional Dietary Consultant
Quality of Care remains the number one priority among the 50 long-term care facilities we serve throughout Alabama, Florida, Missouri and Arkansas. The facilities are committed to providing their patients and residents with an enriching environment to keep them involved in the community and to assist with the activities of daily living. Facilities served by NHS provide skilled nursing and rehabilitative services to their residents including, but not limited to, physical, speech and occupational therapy; dietary services, recreational services, pharmacy and environmental services.
Regional Dietary Consultant (Territory includes: Huntsville, Madison, Athens and three rural facilities in the North Alabama area)
To consult, advise and recommend in areas of expertise to maintain quality standards of nutritional care and food service delivery to the residents in long term care within a specific territory.
- To consult, advise and recommend in areas of expertise to maintain quality standards of nutritional care and food service delivery to the residents in long term care.
- Perform initial and continued nutritional assessments of individuals with appropriate documentation.
- Assist in updating resident nutritional care plans regularly and document appropriately.
- Provide recommendations for the nutritional health care plan of each resident.
- Provide nutritional counseling with residents and/or family and significant others as needed.
- Communicate with the health care team to integrate specific goals and approaches into the total health care plan.
- Provide individual counseling regarding food choices and intake to meet optimal nutritional needs as needed.
- Provide each assigned facility with approved menus that meet the nutritional needs of each Facility’s population.
Qualifications
- Must be a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association and licensed by the respective state in which one practice
- Must have a minimum of one year post graduate work experience, preferably in long term care
- Previous experience in a supervisory capacity preferred
- Must demonstrate a desire to work with convalescent, geriatric or psychiatric residents (as required
- Must be able to travel freely between assigned areas which may include overnight visit
- Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled
