Aerospace/Dod Manufacturing Program Manager – Direct Hire Opportunity
Location: Huntsville AL
Salary: $165,000–$170,000 DOE
Employment Type: Full-Time, Direct Hire
Our client in Huntsville, AL is seeking an experienced Aerospace/DoD Manufacturing Program Manager to oversee the execution of complex defense and aerospace programs . This onsite, direct hire position plays a key leadership role in managing cost, schedule, performance, and risk across high-value contracts from kickoff through completion.
Due to the nature of the work and contractual requirements, U.S. Citizenship is required.
Position Summary
The Aerospace/DoD Manufacturing Program Manager is responsible for the successful execution of assigned contracts, ensuring performance goals are met while maintaining compliance with government and company standards. This role leads all Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) , serves as the primary liaison between internal and external stakeholders, and drives strategic alignment between operations, engineering, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
Manage and direct the execution of contract requirements to ensure alignment with cost, schedule, and performance objectives.
Lead all program-related meetings and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) throughout the full program lifecycle.
Serve as the primary customer interface , facilitating communication between the company, clients, and internal teams.
Participate in bid and proposal activities , ensuring compliance with Request for Proposal (RFP) requirements and supporting proposal documentation.
Collaborate with Business Development to identify and pursue new business opportunities in the defense and aerospace sectors .
Represent the company in program reviews, meetings, seminars, and industry events .
Support contract and subcontract negotiations , ensuring compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and company policies.
Develop, implement, and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets covering labor, materials, travel, and purchased services.
Provide senior management with regular program status reports , including cost, schedule, risk, and performance updates.
Identify, assess, and mitigate risks throughout the program lifecycle using structured risk management methodologies.
Develop and execute Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) plans to resolve cost and schedule variances.
Support Earned Value Management (EVM) assessments and perform cost/schedule variance analysis.
Oversee inventory management and Internal Research and Development (IRAD) projects.
Drive timely and compliant program closeouts , ensuring all deliverables and documentation are complete.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize program performance.
Manage program cash flow and ensure adherence to financial and operational objectives.
Foster a collaborative, results-driven team culture that supports open communication and conflict resolution.
Promote and uphold the organization’s mission, values, and culture , ensuring adherence to all quality and safety standards .
Perform additional duties and support special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
U.S. Citizenship required (due to defense-related program requirements).
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related discipline required.
PMP certification (or equivalent) required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience managing programs through all lifecycle phases, including proposal development, subcontract management, and risk mitigation.
Proven experience managing complex aerospace or defense programs , either as a prime or subcontractor to U.S. or allied military organizations.
Demonstrated success in meeting financial performance goals , including P&L, cash flow, and bookings.
Strong knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations and government contract management.
Proficiency with program planning tools , Earned Value Management (EVM) , and Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with a proactive approach to risk and performance management.
Work Environment & Additional Information
Position requires working onsite with cross-functional teams in both office and production environments.
Occasional travel may be required to support program reviews, customer meetings, and supplier engagements.
Must comply with all safety, security, and PPE requirements as dictated by facility and defense contract standards.
