Grossing Technician

Lighthouse Lab Services is seeking an experienced Grossing Technologist to join a busy pathology department in Mobile, AL. This individual will play a key role in maintaining the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of specimen preparation and grossing processes that directly support diagnostic excellence.

The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment while maintaining strict compliance with laboratory and safety standards.

Location – Mobile, AL
Shift: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
Pay: $26.00 – $30.00 per hour (based on experience)

Key Responsibilities

• Accession and prepare surgical specimens for pathological examination.

• Perform high-complexity testing in accordance with CLIA regulations.

• Assist pathologists during gross examinations and cut-ins.

• Maintain the gross room, frozen section room, and cut-in stations to ensure cleanliness and readiness.

• Ensure compliance with CAP, CLIA, and OSHA standards and maintain all associated documentation.

• Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and inventory.

• Uphold a culture of quality, accuracy, and professionalism in all daily tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Chemistry, or a related field (required).

• Must meet CLIA requirements for high-complexity testing.

• ASCP certification (HT or HTL) preferred.

• Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail.

• Proficiency with laboratory information systems and general computer applications.

• Dependable, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.

• Positive, professional demeanor with strong teamwork and communication skills.
