Key Qualifications:
- Current Alabama Special Education Teaching certification (required for interview and employment)
- Previous experience in school-based or special education settings preferred
- Strong understanding of IEP development, implementation, and compliance
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with students, families, and fellow educators
- Adaptability, empathy, and a genuine commitment to supporting diverse learners
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction tailored to individual education plans, ensuring student progress toward academic, social, and behavioral goals
- Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans aligned with state standards and student needs
- Monitor student performance, collect data, and adjust strategies to optimize learning outcomes
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports every student’s growth
- Collaborate proactively with multidisciplinary teams, including general education teachers, counselors, and related service providers
- Engage families in the educational process to promote consistent support across home and school
