Job Title: Engineering Development Technician II
Job Description
The Engineering Development Technician II will have the opportunity to work on a variety of advanced unmanned system prototypes to develop solutions for a range of defense and commercial applications. This role involves assisting projects and programs with the building, integration, and maintenance of aircraft and other robotic systems. Responsibilities include everything from constructing small components, tools, and test fixtures to assembling and maintaining complete prototype systems. We seek a creative thinker capable of working on rapid prototypes for quick evaluation of new ideas and concepts.
Responsibilities
- Build and integrate components and systems for unmanned prototypes.
- Assist in the assembly and upkeep of prototype systems.
- Read and interpret electrical diagrams and CAD drawings.
- Support the MacCready Works division (R&D, prototyping) in various tasks.
- Travel locally/domestically for testing at site locations.
- Participate in development testing, working irregular hours around deadlines, including weekends and holidays.
- Develop and maintain build/assembly documentation.
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 2 - 4 years of technical experience, with an emphasis on machining, composites, rapid prototyping, and electronics.
- Familiarity with aircraft and/or Remote Control (R/C) systems.
- Proficiency with machine shop tools.
- Experience in building fixtures, tools, and parts or electrical devices.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
- General proficiency with Microsoft Office Software and computer skills.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Higher education is desired.
- Welding certifications are desired.
- Experience with composites, either wet layup or prepreg materials, is desired.
- 3D printing experience is desired.
- Exposure to 3D modeling and programming software (such as SolidWorks) is desired.
- Experience with 3D additive manufacturing technology is desired.
- Knowledge of basic electrical wiring and troubleshooting is desired.
- Skills in machining and with GD&T are desired.
- Ability to interpret instructions from the engineering team and update or generate documentation.
- Strong initiative and drive to meet company objectives.
- Problem-solving, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Focus on teamwork and collaboration.
Work Environment
This position is based in an engineering lab in Huntsville, AL, working closely with an engineering team. The role follows a 9/80 schedule, with team members typically starting around 7 or 8 AM. The team currently consists of four technicians who will work alongside other technicians and receive daily tasking. Collaboration is key in this fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Huntsville, AL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $39.00 - $42.00/hr.
