Automotive Technician (Fleet) - Africa

We are hiring for the role of Fleet Technician for our client. As a Fleet Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing the company s fleet of vehicles and equipment. The role ensures that all vehicles are roadworthy, safe, and maintained in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on company vehicles (light, heavy-duty, and specialized equipment as applicable).

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.

• Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend vehicle life.

• Maintain accurate service and repair records for all fleet assets.

• Ensure compliance with safety standards, manufacturer recommendations, and regulatory requirements.

• Assist in scheduling and tracking fleet maintenance activities.

• Respond to vehicle breakdowns and provide roadside assistance when required.

• Collaborate with fleet management and drivers to address performance or safety issues.

• Recommend improvements for fleet performance and cost-efficiency.

• Diploma/Certificate in Automotive Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.

• Proven experience as a Fleet Technician, Mechanic, or similar role (light/heavy vehicles).

• Strong knowledge of vehicle systems: mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and electronic.

• Ability to use diagnostic equipment and hand/power tools effectively.

• Good understanding of preventive maintenance procedures.

• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and time management skills.

• Ability to work independently and in a team.

• Valid driver s license (commercial license preferred).
