General characteristics for this position include using judgment to determine adaptations in methods for non-routine aspects of assignments, being familiar with Advisory Circular on airport design AC 150/5300-13A, being familiar with FAA Parts 77 and 139, and possessing a broad knowledge and skills with regard to airport planning.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support engineering staff by researching FAA regulations and guidelines related to airport design, master planning, and Airport Layout Plans (ALPs)
- Maintain knowledge of airport operations, including conducting certified fuel inspections as required.
- Manage the annual Airport Improvement Program (AIP) grants, utilizing cost estimates provided by engineering staff.
- Conduct research and investigations to support engineering projects and planning activities.
- Assist in the preparation and revision of project documentation, including editing and updating ALPs.
- Participate in the operation and administration of FAA Part 139-certified airports as needed.
- Assist with developing project schedules, defining work scopes, and identifying resource needs.
- Work under direction to meet specific project objectives, receiving guidance on complex or non-routine issues.
- Execute most assignments independently, with clear expectations and minimal supervision.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, public officials, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Attend project and public municipal meetings, presenting project plans, proposals, or updates as required.
- Exhibit strong leadership, time management, and decision-making skills, while continuously seeking process improvement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in aviation management or business
- 3 to 5 years in airport management or aviation field
- Licensure or Certification: “AAAE CM or AICP preferred”
