ON-SITE Medical Receptionist and Scheduler

Description Job Title: Contract Medical Receptionist and Scheduler Location: Birmingham area Hours: Full Time, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm Position Overview: We are seeking a professional and detail-oriented Contract Medical Receptionist and Scheduler to join a healthcare team in the Birmingham area. This full-time, Monday-Friday position is ideal for candidates who excel in patient-facing roles, possess strong organizational skills, and are comfortable working in a fast-paced clinical environment. Responsibilities: + Greet patients, visitors, and healthcare staff courteously and professionally. + Answer multi-line phone system; respond to general inquiries, transfer calls, and take messages. + Schedule patient appointments, follow-up visits, and procedures according to provider guidelines. + Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in electronic health records (EHR) systems. + Verify patient information, insurance coverage, and required documentation prior to appointments. + Collect and process updates to patient demographic and insurance information as needed. + Provide reminders for appointments and assist with rescheduling as needed. + Liaise with providers, nurses, and administrative staff to coordinate schedules efficiently. + Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA and organizational standards. + Assist with general administrative tasks including scanning, filing, and data entry. + Support front office operations to ensure timely patient flow and positive patient experience. Requirements Requirements: + Prior experience as a medical receptionist, scheduler, or in a healthcare administrative setting preferred. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. + Proficiency in using medical scheduling software and electronic health record systems (EHR). + Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment. + Professional, compassionate demeanor with a commitment to patient service. + Ability to work full-time hours: 7am-4pm, Monday through Friday. + High school diploma or equivalent required; additional administrative or healthcare certifications a plus.
