Position Overview:

KODA Technologies is seeking an Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning ( AI/ML) Engineer to join our team and be at the forefront of machine learning for national defense challenges. You'll support the development of intelligent modeling, simulation, and analysis tools used to plan, optimize, and assess complex system behaviors in data-rich environments.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical depth with modern machine learning experience and a curiosity-driven mindset. You'll collaborate closely with engineers and researchers to design and refine ML models, work across structured and unstructured datasets, and contribute to the integration of AI into real-world defense tools and workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• As part of the team, design, train, and deploy ML models for simulation, planning, and optimization applications.
• Investigate model performance, failure modes, and assumptions to drive continuous improvement.
• Engineer datasets, features, and pre-processing pipelines for structured and unstructured inputs.
• Utilize clean, modular code (Python and C++) to support training pipelines, testing, and inference tools.
• Reproduce academic results and adapt formal research into applied defense contexts.
• Contribute to the development of next-generation AI/ML tools that support operational analysis, decision support, and test scenario generation.
• Communicate progress and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, or a related technical field. Degrees in Philosophy (logic/analytic focus) will be considered with evidence of strong mathematical rigor.
• 5–15 years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Python with foundational experience in C++.
• Understanding of machine learning concepts including model training, evaluation, and optimization.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with comfort in ambiguity and long-form technical problem solving.
• Ability to read and apply formal specifications and academic literature.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Skills:

• Familiarity with ML frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Exposure to symbolic systems, physics-based simulations, or scientific computing workflows.
• Interest in explainable AI, interpretable models, or debugging low-level model behavior.
• Experience working with structured data, simulation outputs, or multi-modal sensor inputs.
• Passion for applying rigorous logic and machine learning to real-world, high-consequence challenges.
