Job Summary

• The Student Nursing Assistant is responsible for providing basic patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role assists in monitoring vital signs, personal care, activities of daily living, and maintaining a clean and orderly patient environment. The Student Nursing Assistant serves as a vital support to the nursing team, contributing to quality patient care while gaining practical experience in an acute care hospital setting.

Essential Functions

• Assist patients with personal care activities, including bathing, grooming, feeding, and ambulation
• Monitor and document vital signs, including blood pressure, heart rate, temperature, and respiratory rate
• Report abnormal findings or changes in patient conditions to the nursing staff promptly
• Assist with measuring and recording intake and output (I&O)
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of patient rooms and common areas, ensuring a safe environment
• Assist in restocking patient care supplies and maintaining supply levels as directed
• Support patient mobility and assist with transferring patients as needed
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff, ensuring patient comfort and confidentiality
• Provide emotional support to patients and families while maintaining professional boundaries
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising RN or charge nurse

Education

• High School Diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of the first semester of a Nursing Program required

Licenses/Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire
