Description/Job Summary

POSITION DESCRIPTION

As a UXO Tech III you may be asked to serve as a Team Leader supervising and performing on-site demilitarization of MEC and handling of demolitions material.


Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING

UXO Technician Level III personnel will be responsible for performing the following general types of duties:

  • prepare explosive storage plans as needed;
  • prepare required UXO munitions response actions and/or range maintenance administrative reports;
  • prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs);
  • assist in the preparation of risk and hazards analyses;
  • conduct daily site safety briefs;
  • supervise the conduct of all on-site UXO-related operations; and
  • inspect and certify and/or verify MPPEH as safe or to the explosive hazard it may present for transfer within the Department of Defense (DoD) or release from DoD control per current policies and standards.

Extensive travel and long-term on-site work is required. To perform the duties of this position a person will need to be in good physical health and be able to lift 50 pounds in order to perform field tasks. Personnel in this position must be able to walk safely over rugged terrain and tolerate weather extremes.

Minimum Requirements

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for UXO Technician Level III as outlined in Department of Defense Explosive Safety Board (DDESB) Technical Paper 18 (TP 18) Minimum Qualifications for Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Technicians and Personnel, which includes the following:
    • Graduate of a military Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) school of the United States (U.S.), Canada, Great Britain, Germany or Australia OR Graduate of a formal training course of instruction or EOD Assistant Course.
    • Eight (8) years of combined active duty military EOD and/or UXO experience in munitions response actions or range clearance activities, as appropriate for the contracted position.
  • Must be able to perform all functions enumerated for UXO Technician I and UXO Technician II. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.

  • MS Project and PowerPoint a plus
  • BA of BS degree


Physical & Environmental Requirements

PHYSICAL & COGNITIVE REQUIRMENTS

  • Ability to lift/move/relocate items up to 50 lbs
  • Prolonged standing up to 90% of the time
  • Walking long distances
  • Walking over uneven or mountainous terrain
  • Lifting, walking, driving, and working in harsh (hot/cold/windy/vegetated) environments
  • Repetitive hand motions (typing, tool use, etc.)
  • Ability to see details at close range
  • Ability to see details at a distance
  • Viewing computer screen for extended periods
  • Ability to interpret and analyze visual data (maps, graphs, warning indicators, etc.)
  • Operating heavy machinery or tools (would only include for a role for heavy equipment operator)
  • Driving a company or personal vehicle
  • Climbing ladders or stairs
  • Reading and interpreting documents or regulations
  • Leading a team or coordinating multiple priorities
  • Communicating effectively with clients, team members, and stakeholders
  • Managing competing deadlines and shifting priorities

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, etc.)
  • Must be able to travel up to 100%
  • May work in environments with loud noises, dust, or hazardous materials
  • Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Remote work environment
  • Potential for longer days up to 12 hours in duration.

Work Schedule: HGL office work is dictated by a 5-day work week; however, fieldwork schedules will deviate based on job requirements and may require longer hours and weekends.

Travel: 100%

A favorable pre-hire drug test and physical are required.

All positions are subject to a pre-hire education and driving record verification.

This is a Service Contract Act (SCA) position. As an SCA-covered role, benefits and paid time off differ. Vacation is awarded annually on the employee's anniversary date, based on applicable Wage Determinations and project guidelines. Refer to our Careers Page for a list of benefits.
