Tax Manager Requirements & Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in public accounting.
• Proven experience in reviewing returns, managing teams, and advising clients.
• Active CPA or EA license.
• Experience working remotely.
• Strong technical skills and familiarity with AI and cloud-based tools.

Tax Manager Preferred Background & Skills

• Experience serving clients in the wellness center, real estate, or professional service industries.
• Familiarity with CCH Axcess, QBO, or Xero.
• Preferred experience with AI tools such as: Juno, Tally4, StanfordTax, Keeper, etc.
• Background in pricing, billing, and business development strategy.
• Passion for process improvement and systems optimization.

Tax Manager Day-to-Day Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a fully remote tax team of 4 staff .
• Review complex business (1065s, 1120s) and individual returns (1040s with passthroughs, investments, etc.).
• Deliver customized tax strategy, planning, and consulting to small business clients.
• Guide the technical development and communication skills of your team.
• Partner with leadership to refine pricing, workflow, and service delivery.
• Help shape the firm’s future as part of its strategic leadership team.
