Job Summary
The Machinist is responsible for setting up and operating manual and/or CNC machines to produce precision parts according to drawings and specifications. This role requires strong blueprint reading skills, attention to detail, and the ability to hold tight tolerances in a production or job-shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC and/or manual machines (mills, lathes, grinders)
- Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions
- Select tools, fixtures, and materials for each job
- Set and adjust speeds, feeds, and offsets
- Inspect parts using calipers, micrometers, height gauges , and other measuring tools
- Make program edits at the machine as needed (for CNC roles)
- Troubleshoot machining and quality issues
- Perform routine machine maintenance and keep work area clean
- Follow all safety and quality procedures
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of machinist experience (manual and/or CNC)
- Strong blueprint reading and measurement skills
- Ability to hold tight tolerances
- Experience working with common metals (steel, aluminum, stainless)
- Basic math skills and mechanical aptitude
Preferred Qualifications
- CNC programming experience (G-code or conversational)
- Experience with multi-axis machines
- Tooling and fixture setup experience
- Trade school, apprenticeship, or technical certification
