Controls Technician

Job Title: Controls Technician
Location: Hueytown, Alabama
Type: 12 month Contract
Compensation: $35.00

Responsibilities

• Responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing protection and control systems used to monitor protection systems in power substations.
• Use electrical engineering principles and computer skills to install, repair, and maintain systems including microprocessor relays, PLCs, sensors, pumps, and motors.
• Install, troubleshoot, and calibrate protection and control relays and devices.
• Assist in creating and maintaining documentation for protection and control systems.
• Support field assignments as directed by the project lead.
• Install, program, and maintain protection and control relays and devices on-site.
• Participate in process hazard analyses to ensure safety and compliance.
• Stay current with industry trends and best practices in controls engineering.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or industrial maintenance preferred.
• 0-3 years of experience as a controls technician or similar role.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Working knowledge of PLCs and HMIs.
• Experience with AC and DC systems.
• Must reside within a reasonable commute to the assigned office location.
