SAS Developer (100% Remote)

Kforce has a client that is seeking a SAS Developer. This role is 100% remote. Summary: Our financial services partner is seeking a highly seasoned SAS Developer to support and modernize mission-critical batch processing systems within their collections environment. This role focuses on analyzing mainframe files and datasets related to outstanding debt while helping guide the organization's long-term transition away from SAS to more modern technologies. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who can operate independently in a mature environment and contribute to both system stability and modernization initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize SAS programs that process mainframe data files
• Analyze large datasets related to outstanding debt and collections activities
• Support and monitor nightly batch processes and file-swapping operations
• Maintain reliability of daily processing pipelines
• Partner with internal teams to ensure operational continuity
• Support future migration efforts from SAS to modern platforms and languages

Create detailed process and system documentation, including:

• Data flows
• System dependencies
• File exchanges
• Business and technical stakeholders
• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 5+ years of hands-on SAS development experience (senior-level)
• Extensive experience reading and processing mainframe files
• Strong background working with large analytical datasets
• Proven experience supporting batch processing environments
• Ability to work independently without extensive ramp-up
• Strong documentation and communication skills

Preferred/Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Experience migrating systems from SAS to modern platforms
• Background in financial services or banking environments
• Exposure to modernization initiatives
• Experience with: C#, C++, SQL Server, Oracle
• Preference for candidates with .NET or C++ experience
• Strong interest in professionals who have supported previous SAS migration efforts
• Candidates with experience transitioning to C# or modern tools are highly desirable
