Snelling – Grants & Contracts Accountant (Huntsville, AL)
Snelling is hiring for one of our clients in the Huntsville area for a Grants & Contracts Accountant. This is professional accounting work of a routine nature supporting grant-funded activities. The position reports directly to the Director of Grants and Contracts .
The Grants & Contracts Accountant is responsible for performing financial analyses, compliance reporting, and accounting functions related to federal, state, and local restricted funds. This role supports month-end and year-end processes, prepares required reports and invoices, and assists internal stakeholders with grants accounting inquiries. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform analyses and reviews of financial transactions for federal, state, and local restricted funds
- Assist with month-end and year-end closeout and financial preparation
- Perform A-110, A-21, and A-133 reporting and compliance activities
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports and invoices
- Assist Principal Investigators (PI’s) with inquiries related to the grants accounting process and facilitation of grants
- Ensure compliance with applicable grant regulations and internal controls
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- One (1) year of grants and contracts accounting experience OR two (2) years of related professional-level accounting experience
- Experience with ERP systems
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Knowledge of internal controls related to business processes
- Strong foundation in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
- In-depth knowledge of state and federal regulations related to grants processing
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail
