We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Legal Assistant to support a legal team in the Birmingham area. The ideal candidate will assist attorneys with case management, legal research, document preparation, and administrative tasks to ensure the efficient operation of the law office.
The starting pay for this role will start at $17-19/hr, depending on experience with a 1st shift schedule.
Key Responsibilities for Legal Assistant:
- Conduct legal research and gather relevant case information.
- Draft, proofread, and file legal documents such as contracts, pleadings, and correspondence. Maintain and organize case files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Schedule appointments, court dates, and client meetings.
- Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel professionally.
- Assist attorneys in trial preparation, including compiling evidence and exhibits.
- Handle administrative duties such as billing, invoicing, and office correspondence.
- Stay updated on legal procedures, regulations, and industry trends.
Qualifications for Legal Assistant:
- Associate’s degree or certification in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field (preferred).
- Prior experience as a Legal Assistant or in a similar role.
- Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and documentation.
- Proficiency in legal research tools and case management software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work efficiently under deadlines.
- High level of discretion and confidentiality.
Preferred Skills of Legal Assistant:
- Familiarity with court filing procedures and e-filing systems.
- Experience in [specific area of law, e.g., family law, elder law, litigation, probate law].
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
