Job Summary
The Lead Civil & Structural Engineer provides comprehensive technical and functional leadership for all civil and structural engineering activities across projects. This pivotal role ensures the technical integrity, quality, and constructability of civil and structural designs for midstream/facilities oil & gas infrastructure. Lead Civil & Structural Engineer also guides and develops the civil engineering team, sets departmental standards, and acts as a primary technical point of contact for stakeholders.
Job Description
- Define the technical scope, design basis, and engineering execution strategies for civil and structural disciplines.
- Review and approve critical civil and structural engineering deliverables.
- Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry codes, standards, regulatory requirements, and project specifications.
- Provide expert technical guidance and resolve complex or multidisciplinary civil and structural engineering challenges.
- Drive the adoption of best practices, advanced analysis techniques, and innovative solutions within the civil and structural discipline.
- Manages, mentors, and develops the team of Civil Engineers (CE I through SCE III).
- Conducts performance reviews, identifies training needs, and fosters a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence.
- Assigns and manages engineering workloads, ensuring efficient resource allocation across projects.
- Promotes collaboration and knowledge sharing within the civil and structural team and with other engineering disciplines.
- Develops, maintains, and continuously improves departmental civil and structural engineering standards, procedures, and tools.
Skills Required
- Required Skills/Abilities:
- Extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and managing complex engineering scopes.
- Deep expertise in the design and analysis of foundations, steel structures, concrete structures, earthwork, roads, drainage, and other civil infrastructure for industrial facilities.
- Advanced proficiency with industry-standard civil and structural engineering software
- Thorough understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and practices (e.g., ASCE, ACI, AISC, API 650/620, IBC).
- Exceptional leadership, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Demonstrated track record of driving significant technical innovation and business growth.
- Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Occasional lifting of office supplies or equipment up to 20 pounds.
- Ability to move around the office to access files, office equipment, and attend meetings.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Project Management Professional (PMP)
- 15+ Years minimum work experience
Education/Training/Certifications
- Minimum Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree (ABET)
- Civil Or Structural Engineering
- Certification Required:
- Professional Engineer (PE)
