Job Description

This role operates production machinery in a manufacturing environment, assembles processed parts, and ensures that all products meet quality standards. The Machine Operator reads and understands manufacturing blueprints, uses hand tools and measuring tools, and supports the overall production process by maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area.

Responsibilities

  • Operate production and assembly machinery safely and efficiently in a manufacturing environment.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing blueprints to ensure correct assembly and production of parts.
  • Assemble processed parts accurately and place finished components on racks or into appropriate packaging.
  • Perform quality reviews of parts and finished products during the assembly process and separate out defective or nonconforming parts.
  • Use hand tools and measuring tools, such as a tape measure, to complete assembly and inspection tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, swept, and dust-free work area and uphold strong 6S practices within the department.
  • Empty scrap baskets at regular intervals to support efficient and safe operations.
  • Locate and transport processed parts to the workstation for assembly as needed to keep production flowing.
  • Assist with machine part changes and basic machine adjustments as required to support production needs.
  • Perform general labor tasks related to production, including loading and unloading materials.
  • Support inspection activities to verify that products meet established quality and specification requirements.
  • Operate material handling equipment such as a forklift, if qualified and required, to move materials and finished goods.
Essential Skills
  • Previous manufacturing experience with a solid understanding of production processes.
  • Ability to read and understand manufacturing blueprints and follow written work instructions.
  • Hands-on experience with machine operation in a production or assembly environment.
  • Proficiency in basic assembly work, including working on an assembly line.
  • Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively during assembly and production tasks.
  • Experience performing quality checks and inspections on parts and finished products.
  • Capability to use basic measuring tools, including a tape measure, to verify part dimensions.
  • Ability to perform general labor tasks such as loading, unloading, and moving materials.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and separate defective parts.
  • Commitment to maintaining a clean, organized work area and following 6S or similar workplace organization standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Background in manufacturing, assembly, or production environments.
  • Experience in machine operating and inspection roles.
  • Forklift operation experience or certification is beneficial where required.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, team-oriented production setting.
  • Strong work ethic with reliability and a focus on safety and quality.

Work Environment

The role is based in a manufacturing and production facility focused on assembly and machine operation. Work is performed on or near production lines, using hand tools, measuring tools such as tape measures, and various assembly and machine equipment. The environment emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with strong 6S practices and regular housekeeping tasks such as sweeping and emptying scrap baskets. Team members may handle materials, move parts to and from workstations, and, where required, operate forklifts or other material handling equipment. The position involves standing for extended periods, repetitive assembly tasks, and working collaboratively with other production team members in a structured, safety-focused setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Muscle Shoals, AL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00/hr.
