Job Title:

Industrial Welder/Pipefitter (Stainless Steel & Carbon Steel)

Position Summary:

The Industrial Welder/Pipefitter at QPS is a hybrid role combining advanced welding techniques and precision pipefitting skills. This position plays a vital role in the fabrication, installation, and maintenance of piping systems and structural components at client facilities including power plants, refineries, and manufacturing sites. Candidates must be proficient in reading technical drawings, executing high-quality welds, and safely assembling piping systems in compliance with industry codes and QPS standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Pipefitting

· Measure, cut, bend, and thread stainless steel and carbon steel piping according to project specifications.

· Lay out, fit, and install piping systems using blueprints, P&IDs, and isometric drawings.

· Secure pipes and components using brackets, clamps, and threading or welding methods.

· Conduct system testing (e.g., pressure tests) and perform repairs or adjustments as needed.

Welding

· Perform TIG (GTAW), MIG (GMAW), and Stick (SMAW) welding on piping and structural components.

· Prepare materials for welding through cleaning, grinding, beveling, and tack welding.

· Ensure all welds meet QPS quality standards and applicable codes (e.g., AWS, ASME).

· Support quality assurance efforts through visual inspections and corrective rework when needed.

General Duties

· Maintain strict adherence to QPS safety procedures and client-specific job site protocols.

· Use appropriate PPE and follow OSHA guidelines, including hot work and confined space rules.

· Accurately document work performed, materials used, and any field modifications.

· Collaborate with QPS supervisors, project managers, and clients to meet scheduling and quality objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED required.

· Technical training, trade school certification, or completion of a registered apprenticeship program in welding or pipefitting preferred.

· Minimum of 3 years of industrial experience with stainless and carbon steel piping systems.

· AWS and/or ASME welding certifications strongly preferred.

Required Skills:

· Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and Stick welding techniques.

· Solid understanding of pipefitting practices including layout, cutting, threading, and system alignment.

· Ability to read and interpret blueprints, isometric drawings, and welding symbols.

· Familiarity with NDT methods and quality control processes.

Working Conditions:

· Work performed in industrial environments including heights, confined spaces, and outdoor conditions.

· Exposure to heat, fumes, loud noise, and potential hazardous materials.

· Physically demanding work requiring lifting, bending, climbing, and extended periods of standing.

· May require shift work, overtime, and regional travel depending on project needs.
