Bilingual Shipyard Safety Inspector

Genesis is hiring a Bilingual Shipyard Safety Inspector / HSE role

Key Responsibilities

1. Safety Oversight & Compliance

• Inspect work areas and job practices to ensure compliance with Job Risk Assessments (JRA) and Permit-to-Work (PTW) systems.

• Identify hazards and enforce maritime safety standards.

• Stop work or call a Safety Time-Out if unsafe conditions exist.

• Approve and validate work permits for all crafts working in the facility.

2. Risk Assessment & Hazard Control

• Conduct workplace risk assessments.

• Write and review Job Risk Analyses (JRA).

• Recognize hazards and ensure proper control measures are used.

• Support safety programs and company initiatives.

3. Emergency Response

• Provide first aid, CPR, and rescue support during emergencies.

• Assist with firefighting and emergency safety operations.

• Maintain certification and readiness for emergency response.

4. Safety Administration

• Prepare and maintain safety and environmental reports.

• Report all incidents and near misses immediately.

• Participate in safety meetings, work observations, and hazard reporting.

5. HSEQ System Participation

• Follow and support the company HSEQ Management System.

• Participate in Job Safety & Environmental Analyses (JSEAs).

• Assist supervisors with safety inspections.

• Support continuous improvement aligned with ISO 9001:2015.

Physical & Work Requirements

• Walk or stand up to 12 hours per day.

• Lift up to 50 lbs.

• Work at heights over 100 ft.

• Climb ladders and work in confined spaces.

• Work 10+ hour shifts, potentially 7 days a week.

Education & Certifications

Required or preferred:

• High School Diploma

• First Aid / CPR certification

• Shipyard Competent Person training

• Maritime safety training such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration maritime courses

• Previous shipyard safety inspector experience (preferred)

Key Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of Work Permit and Job Risk Assessment systems

• Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations

• Ability to maintain accurate safety records and reports

• Strong communication and teamwork with all employee levels

• Ability to work independently and make safety decisions
