The City of McMinnville Police Department is looking for initiative driven individuals with a passion for helping others. Our Certified Police Officer position serves the City to protect life and property of the citizens of McMinnville by enforcing all city statutes / ordinances and state laws / regulations for which the Police Department is accountable.

This Certified Officer position is paid based on experience with a minimum starting salary of $46,000 plus holiday pay (14 days) and night shift differential. It is a 12-hour shift with every other weekend off. The department has many promotional opportunities, training opportunities, specialized units and tuition reimbursement.

The City of McMinnville offers great benefits and time off. The City pays over 75% of employees' medical premium plus offers a wellness and tobacco free discount on the monthly premium up to $150. Life Insurance for the employee and family and long-term disability for the employee is covered at no charge to the employee. Vision / Dental and short-term disability is available.

The City also offers an ample amount of paid time off. Annual time is accrued 48 hours year one increasing to 102 hours in year two, plus 52 hours of personal time. Sick time is accrued monthly beginning day one.

The City also offers a retirement plan through TCRS with a defined benefit plus 401k.

Minimum Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old and a citizen of the United States
• HS Degree or equivalent
• Have no felony convictions
• Meet all POST standards
• Have a valid drivers license

Job Functions

• Protect life and property by enforcing laws
• Proactive in answering calls of service, working traffic and patrolling streets to deter crimes
• Able to work indoors and outdoors with the possibility of being exposed to adverse weather conditions
• Testify in court and / or legal proceedings
• Prepare and maintain reports, logs, citations and other documentation
• Effectively communicate and respond under high stress situations
• Be a liaison with citizens and law enforcement; community policing
