Buried Groundman (Laborer)
Join our team and play a key role in the installation and maintenance of underground utility infrastructure. As a Buried Groundman, you'll work alongside skilled operators and foremen to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality construction of underground cable systems.
Responsibilities:
- Load, transport, and unload materials to and from job sites
- Set up and maintain safe, compliant work zones following all safety regulations and guidelines
- Prepare work areas by shoveling dirt, digging holes/trenches, and assisting the Machine Operator in laying conduit
- Perform spot digging to safely expose existing utilities
- Feed cable from large reels into conduit
- Ensure proper placement of marker tape when laying cable in the ground
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of debris
- Assist the Foreman with daily paperwork and project documentation
Skills & Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in underground construction preferred
- Must have experience operating equipment such as: Digger Derrick, Mini-Ex, Vermeer equipment, Placer Trucks, and Missiles
- CDL license preferred (required for certain positions)
- Knowledge of Ditch Witch cable plows preferred
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment and handle pressure
- Willingness to work on-call shifts, including evenings and weekends, as needed
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physical ability to lift at least 75 lbs.
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
- Valid driver's license required
This position pays $25-$30 per hour, based on experience
