Job Title: Diesel Mechanic

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic with experience in servicing and repairing heavy equipment, including heavy haul trucks, excavators, large material handlers, tractors, and other heavy machinery. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience working on diesel engines and hydraulic systems in a heavy equipment environment. Experience with Caterpillar (CAT) or Terex (TEC) equipment is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair heavy equipment such as heavy haul trucks, excavators, and large material handlers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot diesel engine issues, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy machinery.
• Use diagnostic tools and equipment for troubleshooting.
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
• Perform welding and repair tasks as necessary.
• Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a safe work environment.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience as a diesel mechanic working on heavy equipment.
• Strong experience with diesel engine systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical components.
• Ability to read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and technical documents.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with CAT and TEC equipment is a plus.
• OSHA 10 certification.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

Work Environment

Work in a heavy industrial environment on-site at a large steel plant. The environment is dusty and dirty, requiring steel-toed boots. Work schedules are not weather-dependent unless conditions are unsafe. Shift 1: Sunday - Thursday (12-hour shifts) and Shift 2: Friday - Tuesday (12-hour shifts). Shift assignments will be based on experience and skills.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Trinity, AL.

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $33.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Trinity,AL.
