Day Shift Safety and Security Officer

Job Summary The Safety & Security Officer protects and safeguards Monastery and Shrine residents, visitors, employees, and assets. This highly visible position provides security, emergency response, and guest assistance while maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. The role requires sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to respond effectively to emergencies, including medical incidents. This is an active position requiring frequent walking and outdoor work in varying weather conditions. Essential Duties

• Inspect and secure all public areas of the Shrine during opening and closing procedures.
• Conduct routine security patrols throughout Shrine grounds and facilities.
• Monitor Shrine property using surveillance systems.
• Provide effective and hospitable guest services to visitors.
• Remain accessible to employees and visitors to address safety and security concerns.
• Respond to and document accidents, injuries, medical incidents, and other safety-related events.
• Provide initial response to medical emergencies until first responders arrive.
• Recognize potentially dangerous situations and respond in the safest and most effective manner.
• Coordinate with local law enforcement and emergency services as necessary.

Other Duties

• Assist at the reception desk as needed.
• Ensure compliance with all operational and safety procedures.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned work areas.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge & Skills Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Ability to successfully complete required firearm certification.
• Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check.
• Previous law enforcement, military, or security experience preferred.
• EMT certification preferred.
• Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and act decisively in emergency situations.
• Strong communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
• Commitment to upholding the mission and values of Our Lady of the Angels Monastery.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
