Seeking a Shipping Supervisor for an industrial distribution company to oversee daily shipping operations and lead a team in a fast-paced warehouse and outdoor yard environment. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, hands-on shipping and warehouse experience, and the ability to coordinate personnel, materials, equipment, freight, and customer orders while maintaining a safe and productive operation. Experience working with pipe, valves, fittings, flanges (PVF), steel products, or other industrial materials is a plus but not required.

Job Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily shipping, loading, staging, and order fulfillment activities.
• Lead, train, schedule, and support shipping personnel to maintain safe, accurate, and efficient operations.
• Review customer orders and shipping documentation to ensure materials are accurately picked, staged, loaded, and shipped.
• Coordinate daily shipment schedules with transportation providers, freight carriers, drivers, warehouse personnel, and internal departments.
• Oversee the loading and unloading of trucks, including flatbeds, trailers, and common freight carriers.
• Ensure shipments are properly packaged, secured, labeled, and prepared according to customer requirements and transportation regulations.
• Verify material quantities, product descriptions, shipping paperwork, and order accuracy before shipments leave the facility.
• Monitor shipping priorities and adjust workflow to meet customer delivery requirements and operational deadlines.
• Maintain accurate shipping records, bills of lading, packing lists, freight documents, and inventory transactions.
• Assist with resolving shipping discrepancies, damaged materials, delivery issues, and customer order concerns.
• Coordinate with warehouse, receiving, inventory, sales, and operations teams to maintain efficient material flow.
• Monitor inventory movement and assist with cycle counts, material verification, and inventory accuracy.
• Ensure shipping areas, staging locations, warehouse spaces, and outdoor yard areas remain organized and free of safety hazards.
• Enforce company safety policies and promote compliance with OSHA requirements and safe material-handling practices.
• Conduct safety meetings, provide coaching, and address performance or attendance concerns as needed.
• Monitor employee productivity and provide training and guidance to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Operate forklifts and other material-handling equipment as needed.
• Assist with continuous improvement efforts involving shipping processes, workflow, organization, and operational efficiency.
