Job Description:

U.S. Pipe and Foundry is seeking a Electrical Reliability Technician in Bessemer; AL The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining and repairing cranes ensuring they are operational and safe.

Essential Functions:

• Inspecting cranes and running tests to diagnose problems, and if needed, implementing a solution, such as part replacement or system reset.
• Carefully log work performed to have continuous records of the machine's condition.
• Perform weekly, monthly and annual preventive maintenance checks, monitor equipment systems, and ensure adherence to safety standards.
• Monitor brake, power train, transmission and electrical systems to ensure proper performance.
• Maintain and inspect overhead material-handling apparatuses.
• Develop a maintenance schedule.
• Utilize diagnostic computers to determine which components need to be repaired or adjusted.
• Dismantle the machine and its parts to clean, replace, fix and lubricate faulty components using hand-held tools.

Skills & Other Requirements:

• High school graduate or equivalent with trade or technical schooling preferred.
• One to three years’ heavy industrial manufacturing maintenance experience.
• Good verbal and written communication skills required.
• Excellent planning and organizational skills required.
• Familiarity with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety standards.
• Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to climb steps and ladders
• Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull objects and materials weighing more than 50 pounds.
• Must have a strong mechanical background and be able to quickly diagnose crane-related problems and accurately propose effective remedies.
• Must be able to work in both hot and cold environments.
• Must be able to practice safe work procedures and comply with applicable safety rules and regulations in a heavy industrial environment.
