General Production Worker
Job Title: General Production Worker
Job Description
This role involves working in a high-volume automotive manufacturing environment, producing oil seals, gaskets, and PTFE components. You will operate various production machinery, perform general labor tasks such as sorting, kitting, assembly, and inspection, and help maintain consistent quality and output across multiple departments. The position requires comfort working in a dirty, non–climate-controlled setting and the flexibility to support different areas of the plant as production needs change.
Responsibilities
- Operate a variety of production machinery, including stamping machines, press machines, mold machines, ovens, and compression machines, in accordance with safety and quality standards.
- Perform general labor tasks such as sorting, kitting, assembly, and inspection of parts and components to support production flow.
- Use basic hand tools, power tools, and tape measures to complete production tasks, setups, and adjustments as required.
- Follow established procedures for machine setup, operation, and shutdown to ensure safe and efficient production.
- Work within one or more departments (Gaskets, Oil Seals, PTFE) and adapt to different processes, including coating, assembly, molding, and compression operations.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area in a dusty, dirty, non–climate-controlled environment, following all housekeeping guidelines.
- Adhere to all safety requirements, including wearing steel-toe footwear and appropriate attire, and follow plant rules and policies at all times.
- Support production targets by working scheduled shifts and overtime when needed, especially in areas with higher demand such as the Oil Seals department.
- Accurately follow attendance and call-out procedures, including using the designated phone number provided during orientation when calling the attendance line.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify and resolve basic production or quality issues, and communicate any equipment or process concerns promptly.
Essential Skills
- Experience in production or manufacturing environments, preferably in automotive or metal stamping operations.
- Ability to operate machinery such as press machines, stamping machines, mold machines, ovens, and compression machines safely and efficiently.
- Comfort performing general labor tasks including assembly, inspection, sorting, kitting, and basic material handling.
- Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and tape measures to complete production tasks and equipment setups.
- Basic understanding of machine operation and setup for stamping, press, and other production machinery.
- Ability to work in a dirty, dusty, non–climate-controlled environment and remain focused on safety and quality.
- Reliable attendance and strict adherence to established call-out and communication procedures.
- Capability to follow written and verbal instructions and work effectively across different departments as production needs change.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in metal stamping or similar industrial manufacturing is highly beneficial.
- Experience in gasket, oil seal, or PTFE production environments is a plus.
- Familiarity with blueprint reading and basic production documentation is advantageous.
- Forklift operation experience or certification is a plus for material movement and support.
- Comfort working around ovens, heat, and heavy machinery in high-volume production settings.
- Ability to adapt to multiple shifts and departmental processes, including coating, assembly, molding, and compression operations.
Why Work Here?
You join a stable manufacturing operation that offers consistent, full-time hours across multiple shifts and departments. The environment values reliability, safety, and teamwork, giving you the opportunity to build hands-on industrial skills and grow your experience with a variety of production processes and equipment. With established procedures and clear expectations, you can develop a solid foundation in manufacturing while contributing to a key part of the automotive supply chain.
Work Environment
The work takes place in a large automotive manufacturing plant divided into three main departments: Gaskets, Oil Seals, and PTFE. All areas are dirty, dusty, and non–climate-controlled, so temperatures can be high, especially in departments with multiple ovens such as Oil Seals and PTFE. The Gaskets department is known for lower turnover and focuses on stamping, press machines, coating, and assembly processes. The Oil Seals area includes numerous ovens and mold machines and frequently runs overtime. The PTFE department uses ovens and compression machines. You work around heavy machinery and industrial equipment, following strict safety protocols. Steel-toe footwear is required, and the dress code allows jeans and plain regular T-shirts; leggings are not permitted. Multiple shifts are available: traditional Monday–Friday shifts (1st: 6:55 a.m.–3:00 p.m., 2nd: 2:55 p.m.–11:00 p.m., 3rd: 10:55 p.m.–7:00 a.m.) and PTFE-specific 10-hour shifts Monday–Thursday (A shift: 6:55 a.m.–5:00 p.m., B shift: 4:55 p.m.–3:00 a.m.). Attendance procedures are clearly defined, including the requirement to use the phone number provided during orientation when calling the attendance line.
