  • Establish and maintain an outreach and recruitment process, insuring enrollment of eligible children for the assigned service area.
  • Encourage and achieve parent participation in center based program and activities.
  • Submit reports to the Parent/Family/ Community Engagement is required to submit.
  • Be aware of all policies and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge in all community programs, make referrals, and services to families.
  • Assist families in utilizing community resources, including medical, dental, social, educational, and occupational.
  • Keep documentation on all families and children, including emergency information.
  • Complete the PFCE Family Needs/ Goals Assessment twice a year.
  • Develop Family Partnership Agreements with families. (This is done throughout the year.) This is to be used as a guide to help families look at their needs.
  • Recruit, support, and document all volunteer activities.
  • Conduct parent meetings with families monthly.
  • Be knowledgeable with all BBHS programs to provide information, make referrals, and deliver integrated services.
  • Ensure all enrolled children have a valid immunization and/or medical or religious exemption in the folder.
  • Monitor attendance of enrolled children and contact family when child has been absent for two consecutive days with no contact.
  • Provide support to families of children with disabilities.
  • Provide information to families about Special Education services for families.
  • Conduct home visits.
  • Input enrollment information into Child Plus.
  • Document and track follow-up needs such as Family Partnership Goals, health, dental, nutrition growth assessment, hearing, and vision concerns.
  • Complete staffing during September-October and again in March-April.
  • Conduct Family Interest Survey and Submit to Health/Nutrition Specialist.
  • Work with families to ensure children receive all required screens and exams within stated timeframes.
  • Complete refusal (when or if needed) within time frame.
  • Send mental health referrals to Mental Health Specialist.
  • Enter in-kind information as necessary.
  • Assist service area specialist as necessary.
  • Ensure Parent Board is updated.

Berean Baptist Head Start provides quality education and family support services to children ages three to five and their families in Perry County. During FY22, Berean Baptist Head Start offered center-based Head Start services to young preschoolers and their families at its two locations.

Federal, state, and in-kind contributions are used to operate the County's Head Start program. The State of Alabama provides funding in the form of reimbursement through the Child and Adult Nutrition Program, and through the generous contributions of thecommunity, Berean Baptist Head Start was able to maximize its funding to ensure the provision of services during this reporting period to promote children's school readiness.

As an early childhood program, Berean Baptist Head Start provides a wide range of services which help to ensure that all enrolled children and families have the necessary support to reach their individual goals. Some of the main services available through the program include health and development screenings, nutrition services, family support, and mental health services. These services work together to ensure
that children are growing and learning, while their families are well-supported and empowered.
