Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to join our client's team in Birmingham, Alabama, on a Contract to permanent basis. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented individual with expertise in government and federal contracting, who can bring strong analytical skills and attention to detail to manage financial processes effectively. Responsibilities: - Lead month-end closing processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial data. - Oversee general ledger activities and maintain the integrity of accounting records. - Prepare and review financial statements in compliance with auditing standards. - Conduct account reconciliations to ensure all balances are accurate and properly documented. - Manage journal entries, ensuring they are recorded correctly and align with organizational procedures. - Utilize Cost Point and Cognos software to generate insightful financial reports. - Monitor compliance with government contracting regulations and federal requirements. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support financial planning and decision-making. - Implement best practices in accounting operations to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Requirements - A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in government or federal contracting. - Knowledge of Cost Point and Cognos software preferred. - Demonstrated proficiency in month-end closing and general ledger management. - Hands-on experience with financial statement audits and compliance. - Skilled in performing detailed account reconciliations and journal entry management. - Ability to navigate complex regulatory requirements related to government contracts. - Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
