Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Greet and assist customers in the lumber yard with a friendly, professional attitude.
• Accurately load and unload lumber, building materials, and other products into customer and company vehicles.
• Pull and stage customer orders for pickup and delivery.
• Receive incoming shipments and verify quantities against packing slips.
• Organize, stock, and maintain inventory throughout the lumber yard and warehouse.
• Keep the yard clean, safe, and free of debris.
• Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely (training provided if needed).
• Inspect materials for quality and report damaged merchandise.
• Assist delivery drivers with loading deliveries and preparing routes.
• Follow all company safety policies and OSHA guidelines.
• Assist with inventory counts and restocking merchandise.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in a lumber yard, hardware store, construction, or building materials industry is preferred but not required.
• Basic knowledge of lumber and building materials is a plus.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Ability to follow instructions and maintain a safe work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and climb throughout the workday.
• Comfortable working outdoors in hot, cold, wet, or dusty conditions.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other equipment.
• Must have good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.

Preferred Skills

• Forklift certification (or willingness to become certified)
• Knowledge of construction materials and basic building practices.
• Experience using inventory or point-of-sale systems.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record is preferred.
