Located in Huntsville, AL, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.\n\nThis position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.\n\nPosition Overview:\n\nThe Command, Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a crucial component of the Missile Defense System. It is an essential operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels to systematically plan ballistic missile defense operations, collectively monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to accomplish global and regional mission objectives. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It acts as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations worldwide and regionally to enhance performance. C2BMC is vital for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.\n\nThis position is for a Software Engineer on the C2BMC program. The candidate will be responsible for Java-based software development for the Systems Architecture (Sys-Ar) of the Regional Applications teams in Huntsville, AL. Under direction provides expertise across multiple systems and software disciplines, along with general knowledge of related disciplines, application implications, and customer areas.\n\nEssential Functions:\n\n * Responsible for analyzing and providing technical support for system software products, including complex problem resolution, designing, developing, testing, operational integration, and user support\n\n * Maintains currency, debugs, and configures related software products\n\n * Works from specifications to develop or modify operating system applications\n\n * Assist with design, coding, benchmarking, debugging, and documenting programs\n\n * Interfaces with other system support groups to resolve issues, establish standards, and enhance the overall efficiency of the operating system\n\n * Works on most phases of software systems programming applications and may need minor instruction and guidance in other phases\n\n * Typically, has over one year of relevant experience and may hold a post-secondary degree or training in a related field\n\n\n\n\nBasic Qualifications:\n\nPlease list your current security clearance and IAT or relevant certifications on your resume, if applicable.\n\n * A Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 2 years of experience; or a Master\u2019s degree in a related field with 0 years of relevant work experience; or 6 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree\n\n * Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start\n\n * Understanding of software engineering and software development with Java/J2EE experience or alternative object-oriented development experience (additional experience with C++ also preferred)\n\n * Knowledge of software practices such as coding standards, automated testing, automated build pipelines, and configuration management\n\n * Candidate must have oral, written, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment\n\n * Understanding standard system engineering design artifacts like Use Cases and SysML diagrams\n\n\n\n\nPreferred Qualifications:\n\nDesired experience in the following areas:\n\n * Knowledge of Agile development methodologies\n\n * Experience developing enterprise applications on Linux (Windows experience also desired)\n\n * Knowledge of DevSecOps and/or build management\n\n * Willingness to take on unanticipated tasking\n\n * Familiar with common software development and management tools such as Maven, Git/GitHub, Nexus, and Eclipse\n\n\n\n\nWhat We Can Offer You:\n\nNorthrop Grumman provides a comprehensive benefits package and a work environment that encourages your growth, supporting both employees and the company\u0027s success. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
